Dopplr: the social atlas (now in app store)

    Thursday, 30 July, 2009

Atlas definition is: a world geography and cartography that includes maps, climate data, population etc. When I think about an atlas it comes to me that picture of a huge book full of world maps.

Following the trend of the different social networks, by the end of may we discovered in SIME Barcelona a new one called Dopplr, when Marko Ahtisaari (its founder) presented it. This is a mixture betweek LinkedIn/Xing (because its target is professional) and TripAdvisor or similar, sites where you leave a comment about a museum, restaurant or something similar.

Dopplr helps you make more of your travels by sharing your personal and business travel plans privately with your people, shows you coincidences and you can also ad your tips to the social atlas. Since the week before the last, you can also have Dopplr in your ipod/iphone.

As always happens, there are questions that come up. As a Dopplr user, I have only a friend (because the rest of them do not know anything about it even though I sent everyone an invitation). Do they need help to attract spanish users? And what about planning a trip? How long in advance do we plan it?

Using Twitter (1): Ice-cream in Manhattan

    Wednesday, 29 July, 2009
Many know Twitter but few know how to use this tool. We begin today a series of posts in which we are seeing examples of how companies are using Twitter for online marketing activities.

We are in the middle of summer and we learned that two Manhattan companies use Twitter to communicate to all their followers where their trucks selling ice cream. From the distance we can follow them, @desserttruck and @VLAIC.

It seems a great Twitter application. Now cheese has realized the dream of living there permanently connected to seek new ways to reach customers through all types of tools and channels. Sending Tweets that our customers read on your iPhone, creating groups on social networks … beyond the website there are all world to discover.

Periodo de pruebas o fase beta de 5 años

    Thursday, 9 July, 2009
